Our little 'Puddle Bump'

Tomorrow our first and oldest granddaughter will turn 6 years old. It seems just like yesterday when I was privileged to be in the delivery room as our daughter gave birth to her first child. She was such a tiny little thing with the most dark hair that we had seen up to that time. Such a sweet little angelic face. The minute we met her we were in love, with a capital "L". Before she arrived, it did not seem possible to love another child as much as we love our son and daughter. We immediately became 'one of those people'. You probably have met them, they are the grandparents who think that their grandchildren are the most beautiful, wonderful and intelligent children on the earth. As she has grown, we have watched her bloom into such a caring and loving (and of course, beautiful, wonderful and intelligent) little girl. She has a smile that captures your heart and is the first one to help. She is being home schooled by her mother, (our wonderful daughter) and is so engaged in learning everything. When she was a little over 2 years of age, she became a big sister and she is such a loving and caring big sister as well. She always brightens our day and we are so blessed to have her call us 'Mimi and Pop'. Happy Birthday to our little 'Puddle Bump'.

Happy Birthday to our Sugar Bear!

On the 22nd of this month our family will be celebrating a wonderful blessing. On that day, some 32 years ago, our daughter was born. There were no words to describe the feelings that occurred when we heard her first cry, then saw her sweet little face (and all of that beautiful hair!). When I held her the first time, I truly thought that my heart would burst open with love. From that day on, it has been my pleasure to be a part of her life. She started to walk at 9 1/2 months and from that time on, we were right beside her as she learned and explored her world and ultimately the world beyond. She has grown into a beautiful, loving, kind and intelligent woman. She is the first one to ask 'how can I help' and is always ready with a smile. These days we have the pleasure to be a part of her life where she is a wife and a mother - to two wonderful little girls of her own. Happy Birthday to our Sugar Bear! We love you so very much!

Out with the old, and be choosy with the new!

The new year has brought the usual desire to clean around our house. I have been talking and thinking about clearing out 'stuff' for a few years now. I changed careers 3 years ago and this, along with getting 'older' myself, has led me to believe that I need to rid our home of stuff and things and belongings that we either do not need or do not want. I would rather that we make the choices now ourselves as opposed to continuing to accumulate and then leave everything up to our children to clean out some day. I made a grand pronouncement the other day that we should dedicate some time each weekend to a closet or a room and literally look at and touch everything that is in it. We then need to determine whether we really need it or not. If not, we need to sell, donate or trash it. This pronouncement, like many of the ones that I come up with, was not popular with my wonderful husband. He just smiled and said 'Uh, huh'. He did not fool me, I know that means 'I don't think so and I am hoping that she will either forget or move onto some other new project - soon!'. I started with my closet and drawers and filled a black garbage bag with items to donate. I am going to try very hard to work diligently to accomplish this project this year. Out with the old and be choosy with the new. That is my new motto. (at least until I move onto another project or forget like my husband is hoping)
Happy New Year!
